DescriptionMan in robe with wreath on hair sitting on decorated chair center left cutting into animal head on plate. Animal head has the words "Intelligence Department" near site of cut, sign sticking out of head reads "Editor / a la / N.Y. Herald / (tete de veau)". Table animal head is on has a scroll on it reading "Editorial / banquet / a la / white / house / 'The feast / of reason / and the / flow of / soul.' / Huitres / potages. / Hors doeuvres. / Poissons". Rest of scroll is out of illustration. Chalice on table reads "red ink". Bird with human-like head on plate on table has bib reading "Paon. / Editor / a la / Tribune / un-founded." Dish to right of bird has lid reading "Hash / a la / editors". Big chalice to left of animal head reads "Bowles / of / soup / a la [blocked]" and has legs sticking out of top. To right of it dish reads "Irish stew / a la / press". To right of that dish another reads "Southern / (press) / gumbo". On elevated platter two objects read "Cincinnati commercial" and "Louisville / Courier Journal". Sign sticking out of it reads "Cucumbers / a la / (very cool.)" Raised platter to the left has large tongue on it with sign reading "Interviewer's / tongue." Man standing to left of seated man is in a robe and holding a staff with bird head at the top. Man to the right of him is holding a platter with a bird on it and a sign reading "Game / a la / Brooklyn Eagle." Man to the right of him is holding a dish reading "Sun-poisson a la [blocked]" with a human head on a fish body in it. Sign in background above last man reads "Salle / a / manger." Inscribed "-Daily Press Question." typeset after title in black ink.
