Description"Shane Lavalette’s most recent body of work explores the relationship between traditional Southern music and the landscape of the South. Inspired by the sounds of old time, blues, and gospel music, his photographs are quiet and contemplative yet, as fellow photographer and poet Tim Davis describes, “build to a boisterous whole.” Through a playful series of portraits, still lifes, landscapes, and abstractions the artist delights in the musicality of the everyday life in the South."
