Description“Pavel Banka was an Artist-in-Residence at Light Work in September 1987 and the first European artist to participate in the fifteen-year old program. This was Banka’s second trip to the United States from his native Prague, Czechoslovakia where he makes a living as a commercial photographer. He explained that it was a great privilege, that many Czechs will never experience leaving their country more than once in a lifetime. As though he might only have one month left to live, Banka set out to photograph American people and continue his dramatic studio series with models.”
