DescriptionWoman and man with lion's head sitting in front of tree. Woman wears a helmet and ties wreath around lion's mane. Shield and trident to the right of woman propped up against tree. Captioned "'My heart burns for the prudent, ill-fated ULYSSES, who, in a sea-girt island, where is the centre of the sea, a woody island, and in her mansion a goddess dwells, the daughter of all-wise Atlas, who dens the depth of / the whole sea. But his daughter detains (ULYSSES) unhappy lamenting (?): and she continually soothes him with soft and winning words.'--THE ODYSSEY OF HOMER." typeset beneath title in black ink.
