DescriptionPope with large crown stands on balcony reading "Vatican". Man with head covered by large crown holding sword up sits on elevated seat at same height of pope's balcony. Below seat spears poke up, domed building in background has cross on top. "--[SEE ARTICLE, 'A Period of Reaction,' ON PAGE 78]" typeset following title in black ink. Captioned "INFANT ALFONSO XII. (of Spain). 'I ask your Blessing, and promise that I will, like my Ancestors, defend the Rights of the Holy See.'" typeset beneath title in black ink.
