DescriptionThis photography likely depicts the Hojack Swing Bridge, a through truss bridge at the mouth of the Genesee River. Rome Watertown and Ogdensburg RR built the first bridge across river; the bridge was taken over by NYC about 1890. The bridge depicted here was built in 1905 by the King Bridge Co. of Cleveland, Ohio for New York's "Hojack" line. This line was abandoned in the late 1970's and the bridge officially placed out of service c.1993-1994. It was demolished in 2012.
