DescriptionEdo period okudi-e woodblock print of an oiran, or high-level courtesan, from the series "Variegations of Blooms According to their Speech.".
The woman faces right, biting down onto a handkerchief. In the text, she describes a trip to the Kabuki theater where she saw actor Segawa Kikunojô's final performance. She then mentions that actors Ichikawa Komazô and Segawa Michinosuke visited a theater box next to her box. The conversation then trails into discussion of a hairpin and a cat.
