Descriptiona). standing woman. b). youth at stele. workshop of CA Painter? There is a woman with phiale, a shallow ceramic or metal libation bowl, and a lepaste, a four compartment box often employed as a toilet-box. The inside of the lepaste is divided into four equal compartments, each with a lid, and a centre socket. She holds a wreath. Behind her is a window box or pinax, plaque, with a dot-dash fillet ending in a tassel, which represents a painted votive tablet commonly made of terracotta, wood, marble or bronze that was placed in sanctuaries or burial chambers. In front of her springs a sapling, she wears a saccos, a soft woven cap with a tassel hanging from the center or a piece of material wrapped around the head that completely covers the hair except for bangs or curls by the ears, and jewelry. Reverse: Cloaked youth facing stele. He wears a himation, a thick mantle or cloak worn as an outer garment. There is another window box or pinax, which represents a painted votive tablet commonly made of terracotta, wood, marble or bronze that was placed in sanctuaries or burial chambers. These scenes have to do with offerings of the death, which is appropriate as these vessels were intended for the grave.
