George ShellhaseAmerican, 1895 – 1988

George Mann Shellhase was an artist and illustrator in the 1940's, 50's and 60's. Mr. Shellhase was born in Philadelphia. He briefly attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Art Students League in New York. His affectionate and gently comic illustrations of American life appeared in publications like the Saturday Evening Post, Collier's, The New Yorker and The New York Times.
