Jacobie Adamie

Inuit, born 1938
BiographyJacobie Adamie lives at an old traditional campsite near Iqaluit (Baffin Island) called Mingnooktoo. While living on the land at Allen Island (Allan's Island?), Jacobie discovered a large deposit of serpentine which is still being quarried for carving stone today. Jacobie is more interested in hunting than carving, but still produces the occasional sculpture. Two brothers, Pudlat Nowdlak and Lucassie Nowdluk, are also carvers.
