The demonstrators were arrested when they sat down on the floor of the bank lobby. The protest was against alleged employment discrimination by the bank, East St. Louis, Illinois.

Only her face protrudes. She was identified as Janet Heywood, 20, of Chicago. Many other demonstrators were arrested as pickets continued to protest that the mobile units serve to maintain 'de facto' segregation. Demonstrators claim that Negro students in overcrowded schools should be sent to white schools, Chicago.
