Description"Vasantha Yogananthan lives and works in Paris. His passion for the tradition of painting led him to center his practice on the genres of portraiture, still life, and landscape, using his camera to create a distinctive palette. In Cloudscape, Yogananthan uses pastel color to blur the line between photography and painting. Bookmaking and editing are central to Yogananthan’s work and the photobook is his primary medium for investigating original narrative approaches. His award-winning books combine a wide range of techniques including collage and hand-painted photographs. He co-founded the publishing house Chose Commune in 2014. His first book, Piémanson, was nominated for the MACK First Book Award. Subsequent book awards include the FOAM Talents Award, the ICP Infinity Award Emerging Photographer of the Year, the IdeasTap/Magnum Photos Award, and the Prix Levallois 2016."
