Description"My photographs are about dressing up and the attempt to "feel good" as well as an articulation that dressing up and the history of dress has definied women and the control over their bodies by western society. These photographs speak about the tension between a woman's desire to feel and look good and the societal perception that "looking good" is often an invitation to male domination and desire. It is important that my body is represented in these photographs to show both the obsessional control of the female body as a desirable object and the use of body language to convey a woman's meaning." - Artist's Thesis Statement, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1992.
