DescriptionFrom the portfolio's forward:
"Hruby explores the relationship between soldier and society from the point of view of an observer and a participant. Ken grew up as an Army brat and served for twenty-one years in the Army Infantry with three combat tours in Vietnam and Korea. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts where he now teaches.
Hruby's prints combine xerography, silk screen and collagraphy on tea-stained Rives BFK paper. Using text from West Point's Notes for the Course In the History of Military Art and an embossing of a combat boot, Hruby uses imagery drawn from his military career to explore the relationship between male, female, sexuality and violence."
