DescriptionA naked young women is being painted with poka-dots by the artist Yayoi Kusama (born in Matsumoto City, Japan in 1929), in front of a rock band, during one of Kusama's performance art events, or "happenings," in New York City, ca.1967. Kusama produced this series of happenings in the late 1960s titled "Body Festival" to protest the Vietnam War and promote themes like free love, civil rights, and anti-establishment sentiments.
