DescriptionSemi-clothed young women dance in front of a rock band during a performance art event, or "happening," organized by artist Yayoi Kusama (born in Matsumoto City, Japan in 1929), New York, ca.1967. Kusama produced this series of happenings in the late 1960s titled "Body Festival" to protest the Vietnam War and promote themes like free love, civil rights, and anti-establishment sentiments.
