Dr. King Leads Off Second Lap: Dr. Martin Luther King, extreme right, civil rights leader, strides out of camp near Selma, Alabama, as his protest march started its second lap. Next to King is SNCC Chairman John Lewis. A soldier ordered to duty along with several thousand troops to guard the marchers, stands with rifle along the roadside. The marchers are aiming for the State Capitol at Montgomery.

Police Use Stretcher to Remove Demonstrator: Woman who had climbed atop roof of mobile classroom is removed down ladder by police who have encased her in a canvas stretcher bag. Only her face protrudes. She was identified as Janet Heywood, 20, of Chicago. Many other demonstrators were arrested as pickets continued to protest that the mobile units serve to maintain 'de facto' segregation. Demonstrators claim that Negro students in overcrowded schools should be sent to white schools, Chicago.
