Markings Verso, center (typed purple): "George Pompidou National Center of Art and Culture, Paris March 77 #76-140 / Locally called Beaubourg (as it is located on the plateau Beaubourg in Paris) the "George Pompidou National Center of Art & Culture" has hardly been open a month and thousands of visitors are flocking to this recent curiosity. Initially it was estimated that 10,000 visitors per day were expected, at present it is nearly 3 times, that amount and if the flux continues its popularity will surpass both the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum. Its 21st century architecture, whereby the superstructure is exposed on the outside leaving the inner halls free for exhibitions, does not blend very well with the medieval architecture that surrounds it. This method of construction leaves the inner floors clear of any obstructed pillars. The 5 floors of the building are divided between a Museum of Modern Art, an Industrial Creative Center, a Public Library, and a Music Research Center. / Photo by Leonard Freed/MAGNUM"
