Burn Summons: Tom Hayden, left, and Jerry Rubin reduce to ashes subpoenas to appear before the House Committee on Un-American Activities in what they termed gestures of contempt. The two, who figured prominantely in the recent Chicago street demonstrations, said that in spite of the burning of the summons they will appear as requested before the committee in Washington October 1. Hayden is founder of the Students for a Democratic Society; Rubin a self-styled Yippie revolutionist.
