Alexander Reed, known as "Bill," studied at Black Mountain College with Anni and Joseph Albers. the Summer of 1939, the Alberses made their fourth trip to Mexico in the company of their friend and Black Mountain College student Alexander ("Bill") Reed. During the summer of 1939, Reed traveled with the Alberses to Mexico, then to Veracruz where they met Anni's parents who were fleeing Nazi Germany. Reed studied and taught at Black Mountain College from fall 1936 until 1946. He later studied and taught architecture in Boston at Harvard and MIT.
Studied under Joseph and Anni Albers at Black Mountain College, 1936-1940. Considered a good friend and apprentice of the Albers. Later taught at BMC (1941; 1946) as well as MIT. Studied at Harvard College in the late 1930s and at the Harvard School of Design after WWII. Practicing Quaker.
