DescriptionFrom the portfolio forward:
"Julia Shepley's sculpture and installation work is constructed of carved wood and materials including paper, gut and fiber. Through the repetition of related natural forms, the artist creates works that balance a sense of substance and weight with a suggestion of motion and flight. She is a graduate of Boston University School of Fine Arts and maintains a studio in the Brickbottom Artist Building in Somerville.
Shepley's print, created with a combination of linoleum and wood block, consists of layered images of butterfly wings in motion. It was made in conjunction with her work on a sculpture installation for her April 1995 solo exhibition with the Boston Sculptors at Chapel Gallery."
