Markings Verso, upper right (purple typed): "Child Truancy in England, August 1977 #77-79 / The unemployment figures are increasing in Western Europe and many school leaving children without degrees are faced with the faxt that they will not have jobs waiting for them. Truancy, or absence from school is multiplying on many levels, either due to the fact of confusion or boredom or the anxieties attributed to their family stress. A lot of the children who "play truant" come from working class families or unskilled homes, where parents and children are suffering from boredom. Some cases are perhaps due to the failure of personality integration or the fears of bullying from teachers or other children. This problem is causing wide anxieties among the educational authorities and urban planners. / Photos by Leonard Freed/MAGNUM Photos."
